About Kayana
Kayana is a freelance photographer currently based in Boston, MA where she is a regular contributor to the Boston Globe, and available for editorial and commercial assignments worldwide.
In 2011, Kayana was part of a team from the Boston Globe that received the Dart award in Excellence for Coverage in Trauma from the Dart Center for Journalism.
She was awarded the 2010 Marty Forscher Fellowship for Humanistic Photography, and her work was featured in the 2010 PDN Photo Annual. Kayana completed her graduate coursework at Ohio University’s School of Visual Communication in 2010.
Prior to her graduate studies, she received the OSI Documentary Distribution Grant in 2007 for her work documenting the impacts of oil development on the communities and environment of the Ecuadorian Amazon. City Lights published the “Crude Reflections” project as a book in the summer of 2008.
Her work has been shown in galleries, universities, and civic spaces throughout the US and abroad, including the International Center of Photography 2006-2007 Triennial, Stanford University, and the Fundacion Guayasamin in Quito.
